Assignment 5: Merdeka Object

In this assignment 5 we are asked to work with the Penang Jazz team for the merdeka celebration. First of all, we are asked to come out with an idea on how to release the 1000 balloons. Then, we are asked to create our own costume. On 29 August, we had a costume parade in E48A. The celebrity team for releasing the balloons was chosen. On 30 August, we have a visit at the site which is the Penang Time Square. We have rehearsal on how to walk in and surround the fountain and releasing the balloons. On 31 August, it was the merdeka day. We reached Time Square earlier to do the final preparation and set up every things including tiding up the balloons. Sharp at 11:55, we are called to queue up and started to walk in surrounding the fountain. While walking in, we came out with the sound “w we wa “ as instructed before. On 12 o’clock sharp, the 500 balloons are released from the fountain while another 500 balloons are dropped from upper building.
From this project, we learned on how to communicate with one another. We have to communicate with outsider in order to carry out the event. Besides that, we need to punctuate. Furthermore, we understand the importance of team work. At the same time, we realized that merdeka is not just a celebration but to understand the meanings hidden behind it. We need to appreciate and be thankful.
In this assignment, our intention is to participate in the merdeka celebration. But, in order to carry out the event successfully we need to act. As such, we came up with the idea on how to release the balloons, create our own costumes and take part in the celebration event. The products we finally came out with were our costume and the releasing of balloons. In fact, what we have learned throughout the assignment is the most important thing. The actors including all the HBP first year students, the lecturers and also the Jass team members. In order to carry out the event, we need to follow the rules as well. Therefore, the balloons have to be released sharp at 12a.m. Besides that, we shouldn’t left anything behind after we complete our duty. And lastly, the site which is the Penang Time Square.
