shenhaw homepage: Assignment 7 : Bamboo Box & Gift @ Potluck Bamboo Do

In the assignment 7, we are asked to produce a cube with the dimension 1m x 1m x 1m by using bamboos. Besides that, we have to create a small object as a gift using the bamboos too. As such, we made order with an uncle in order to get the bamboos. Though it was an individual assignment, I worked with another three girls as I believe working with team is more effective while trying to help them to cut the bamboo as it is hard for girls to cut the bamboo. Then, we tied the bamboo using rope. For the small object, I came up with a small bamboo with a hole where I made it to be a candle. The purpose of doing it is for being used in the coming assignment 8 where we have to stay inside the forest and a candle might be useful. Furthermore, there is a rope hanging it which made it looks like the Chinese “Tang Lung” and the moon cake festival is coming and we are staying in the forest on that day so it might be seen as a tang lung too.
The intention of this assignment is to come up with a cube 1m x 1m x 1m by using bamboo and also a small object. Therefore, we act by cutting the bamboo into 1m each and tied it up using ropes. And the final product is the cube with the small object. The actors for this assignment is myself and another three girls who are Fong Sum Yee, Ang Lee Thing and Leong Siew Mei thought it is an individual assignment. We realized that working in team might be more effective. The rule is simple that’s to form a cube with dimension of 1m x 1m x 1m by using bamboo. The site that we choose is our first year studio where there is a large area which enables us to tie up the cube whereas we choose the area beside the studio to cut the bamboo so that it won’t affect others.
